The intent of the First Nations Inuit Child Care Initiative (FNICCI) is to provide childcare services on reserve for First nations and Inuit children ages 0-6. There are four daycare centres which are funded under the ASETS umbrella of NPTC & Employment and Social Development Canada;

The intent of the FNICCI program is to provide on-reserve daycare accessibility for parents who are working, training or participating in traditional economies. All four FNICCI Daycare centres are required to follow the provincial Childcare regulations along with the guidelines of the ASETS contribution agreement with each undergoing yearly inspections from Provincial licensing authority, health inspection by Health Canada and building & fire inspection by NPTC Technical Services.

- The role of the NPTC Childcare Coordinator;
- Ensure childcare staffing have credentials ranging from Level I to Level III.
- Ensure ongoing staff accreditations, Vulnerable Sector & Intervention checks
- Ensure ASTES/FNICCI operational requirements and reporting are met
- Provides administrative and technical support
- Advocacy & establishment of early learning partnerships
- Ensuring licensing and Provincial Childcare Act & applicable regulations are adhered to
- Assist in ensuring childcare staff attend regular training, workshops and conferences to increase development of staff and enhance program delivery by networking and sharing best practicing with others in their occupation
